Beware the 'gator
On a sunny but breezy swamp tour in Henderson, southern Louisiana, on our way to New Orleans. Lots of cypress trees, Spanish moss, water birds and George the alligator who had a nice chicken lunch.
Cheers,
Nick

Nick is dwarfed by the Saturn V rocket at Houston's Space Center and can't help but think.... Rockets are really COOL!
NickNick encounters an unexpected sight in suburban Houston...lacked a phone inside however so no idea what it was doing here.
NickLove the drunk driving lawyer advert on a pint class in a sports bar in Houston...
NickNick contemplates his next car at the Art Car museum in Houston. A little on the aggressive side perhaps?
Next stop... The Beer Can House... NickKaren tucks in at Louie Mueller BBQ in Taylor, TX (just NE of Austin). Mueller's has been around since the 1940s and is one of the "top" BBQ joints around.
Nick P.s. That's not all for Karen!Karen enjoys Nick driving for once as we "randomly" encounter a couple of wineries in Gruene, TX... a pity we're not staying longer as its also one of the few places in the US that you can wander down the street with a beer in hand - thanks to it being a Historic District apparently, something it has in common with New Orleans... explains a lot!
NickNot much left here of the historic fort except the mission church and some barracks. Personally, I think that today's tourists would have done just as good a job as Santa Anna's troops against Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie and the like...
KarenThe 107 inch telescope at the McDonald Observatory in Texas looms over Karen.
Tonight we're going back to search for stars...and ET (although I think he's back in Roswell) NickGiant wedding cake-like cave decorations at Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico. Quite an awesome place; they weren't kidding when they named the main cave the Big Room, which is 8.2 acres of highly decorated cave. Next up - waiting to see the bats emerge from (where else?) the Bat Cave at sunset.
