Yet another early flight
Looking forward to some lie-ins in the UK after being up at 5am today (thanks to Nick's paranoia) and a couple of days ago for our flight from Colorado Springs. Karen

Nick at Emerald Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park admiring the glaciated landscape around him and reminiscing about moraines, hanging valleys and cols...
I'm just enjoying a brief rest in the sun after the steep ascent!

"Five blankets" Karen endures another chilly night in the tent - Rocky Mountain National Park this time at about 8000 feet.
Last night outdoors for a while though - Colorado Springs motel tonight and then home...

Well US that is - This is Karen at the top of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. It's the highest continuous paved road in the US at somewhere over 12000 feet. Just after this we saw a big male Elk as well - just about to enter the rut and heading down to lower ground to round up his harem..

Karen spots a monster dino femur in Dinosaur National Monument, Utah. No sign of the rest of the beast though...

We have frequented more Walmarts than we care to count in search of cheap camping goodies and surprisingly good bargain basement food (mmm, cookies). However, this is the first time we have encountered the aquarium section! Nick is currently contemplating converting the roof box...

Our campsite was a little shady for breakfast (sun being important when its 47F outside) so we headed to a nearby picnic spot for some pancakes.
Karen would like to point out that its Nick's fault we have so much stuff - this is definitely not lightweight camping!
The mountains in the background are the Tetons with Grand Teton being out of sight behind the trees. Today's destination is Jackson (as in Jackson Hole).
Cheers
