Karen tucks into a King Cut of prime rib almost as big as her head :-)Nick
So the globetrotting is over and we're back in the US for now - New York for a few hours before we head back to Boston this afternoon.Galapagos was awesome - expect many photos soon (well as soon as we post Peru and Bolivia anyway!)Nick
Karen on the balcony of our cabin on the Queen Beatriz in the Galapagos.Must send before we leave reception!Nick
Found a giant tortoise but its not George - he's elsewhere with a couple of girl tortoises trying to make baby Georges...
Curious first tortoise observation - they sound like Darth Vader when they breathe...
Nick
P.s. George is Lonesome George - the last giant tortoise of his species rescued from his island in 1972.
Just made it to the Galapagos and now in search of Lonesome George the giant tortoise... Karen wants to give him a hug...
3 days to ourselves before we join the cruise set.
Nick (not currently a bird fan due to their malicious & successful aerial bombardment while we were watching the pelicans being fed)
Karen enjoys a cocktail in the Admiral's Club lounge in Caracas airport... As close as we get to Venezuelan territory. Since we won't be going through immigration before returning to Lima, I'm not sure we've really entered the country.Nick
The world's most pathetic slice of chocolate cake at La Casona restaurant in Puno - whatever you do stay away from this place and its overpriced rubbish. Damm that Lonely Planet recommendation that brought us here in the first place.
Nick
We're currently in the middle of Lake Titicaca floating on something constructed of large amounts of reeds and hope... Not convinced it will catch on - Karen has already almost gone through a squidgy spot... The locals seem to like it though and you can't argue with the eco-friendliness!Nick
Back in Peru today (Puno) and have wandered into some sort of fiesta / parade with lots of energetic dancing and enthusiastic drums and brass bands. All the dancers are very young so we're wondering if its the Peruvian equivalent of a cheerleading competition...Nick
