Laptop, beer and sludge
Nick's dinner on the train to Danang - gloopy sludge, mince and chives, yummy! His comment "At least I have a beer!"

To paraphrased Karen on the bus/boat/bus back to Hanoi....
"When will you shave that monstrousity off ... And why for gods sake is it partly ginger?"
Just set out to make our own way to Halong Bay having spurned the gazillion tour operators in Hanoi. First step - 2.5 hours on a train with hard wooden benches to Haiphong.... Then we need to find a boat...

Seafood bbq for dinner... Yum yum. Food is great here (especially after India). Wonder what Vietnam will be like.... Will find out tomorrow night!

It was a bit of an ordeal but we made it through the Mumbai airport security and are just sitting down to a late lunch in Khao San, Bangkok. Getting up at 2.30am for the flight was very hard work though...
Highly recommend Hyatt in Mumbai (and Delhi) - a very pleasant way to relax before our flight.
Two days here then off to Vietnam.
Cheers. Nick
Karen thinks she has found the perfect lunch spot - a table for two in a treehouse overlooking the erotic temples of Khajuraho (Google it....)

Also very annoyed to discover my last post from the Katni train didn't make it until just now...
Unsurprisingly there wasn't much reception in the Tiger reserve - hope to catch up with blog soon.

Turns out that its surprisingly hard to find a train if there are no signposts, no announcements, no official people to ask and no one speaks your language.
Will stick to arriving 2 hours in advance from now on.
